Extension of deadline for bids of 2027 Division 5 confernce

This is a reminder and the extension of deadline for bids for the next IUFRO All-Division 5 conference in 2027. The IUFRO All-Division 5 Conference is held every 5 years. The call is open until 15th April 2025.
The conference is an apolitical, international forum open to all nations, for conduct of the Division's business, and for exchange of scientific, professional and technical information on forest products related subjects consistent with the Division's structure.
Division 5 is currently soliciting bids for the 2027 All-Division 5 conference. If you and your institution are willing to host this conference, please visit the Guidelines and Bidding Rules at https://www.iufro.org/iufro-news/2027-all-division-5-conference-call-for-bi… or the IUFRO division 5 website (https://www.iufro.org/divisions/50000-forest-products) under "Activities" for further details.
Please note that the deadline for the submission of bids is 15th April 2025!

ICWSE 2025 First Announcement

The ICWSE 2025 website is now available at:

simple scientific meeting. We are proud of the positive feedback that

ICWSE 2025 is now open! Please fill in the attached Pre-Registration
Form, and send it per E-mail to: campean(a)unitbv.ro before 15 May 2025.

Please fill in this form even if you are a co-author or if you just
wish to attend the conference (with no presentation).
At this time, it is important for us to estimate the number of
participants, the number of papers in each section, and also your

Three scientific journals, which act as ICWSE 2025 partners with
special issues dedicated to this event, are available: Applied
Sciences, Bulletin of the “Transilvania” University of Brasov, and
PRO LIGNO. Details can be found on the conference website, under the

the conference.
All papers registered to be presented at the conference will be

Notification: Call for nominations of fellows for the second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services
Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,
The IPBES Plenary, in decision IPBES-11/1, approved the undertaking of a second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The overall objective of the second IPBES global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services (referred to hereafter as “the second global assessment”) is to assess relevant knowledge that has become available since the publication in 2019 of The Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services and to assess progress towards achieving the goals of sustainability and living in harmony with nature. The second global assessment will strengthen the science-policy interface on biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people on a range of spatial scales, from the local to the global, by providing the knowledge and the policy support tools needed for informed decision-making. The second global assessment will be delivered in 2028.
Further to the call of nominations of experts for a second global assessment (EM/2025/04<https://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&i…>, Governments and other relevant stakeholders are herewith invited to nominate candidates to participate in the IPBES fellowship programme for the second global assessment.
The IPBES fellowship programme, which is part of a larger capacity-building portfolio of activities, targets early-career individuals1 who wish to gain experience by participating in the work of IPBES. Selected fellows will participate in the preparation of the chapter of the assessment for which they are selected, and their contribution will be acknowledged as part of the citation for that chapter. Fellows will attend author meetings and receive training to gain an in-depth understanding of the IPBES assessment processes and the science-policy interface. Fellows will also be paired up with a mentor for the assessment period.
The assessment will be conducted in line with the procedures for IPBES deliverables set out in decision IPBES-3/3, annex I (available here<https://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&i…>) and based on the scoping report for the assessment (available here<https://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&i…>).
IPBES is seeking fellows who have experience in regional and global analyses relating to nature and nature’s contributions to people in terrestrial, inland water, coastal and marine ecosystems. They should have expertise relevant to the global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services in one or more disciplines within natural science, social science or humanities. IPBES is, in particular, seeking fellows with an interdisciplinary background. IPBES is also looking for fellows on Indigenous and local knowledge.
Governments and relevant stakeholders are invited to include in their nominations candidates with diverse backgrounds and expertise, and ensure gender balance in their nominations.
All nominated candidates (nominees) need to be available to attend the relevant author meetings, training workshops and induction day for fellows, with the induction day and first author meeting tentatively scheduled for end of November 2025.
All Governments and relevant organizations or institutions are encouraged to submit nominations; nominating organizations or institutions are not required to have been admitted to the Plenary of IPBES as an observer. Please help us to disseminate this call for nominations of fellows widely.

* Sharing the call of nomination: All Governments and relevant organizations or institutions are invited to disseminate this call.
* Completing the application form (candidates): Interested candidates are invited to complete the application form and attach their curriculum vitae through the dedicated web portal at https://www.ipbes.net/second-global-assessment/fellows-application<https://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&i…> (to access this page you will need to log in with your IPBES website log in credentials. Please note that the nomination form is in English only and applications should be submitted in English, as the assessment process will be conducted in English;
* Approval and formal nomination (Governments/organizations): The nominating Government or organization (nominator) indicated by the nominee will receive an email with a link to the nomination form and will be invited to approve and submit the nominations in the web portal;
* After nomination: Nominators and nominees will receive confirmation via email once the nomination has been submitted by the nominator.
Interested early-career individuals wishing to be nominated by a Government are encouraged to contact their IPBES National Focal Point (https://www.ipbes.net/national-focal-points<https://ipbes.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da0fed71c7e4399fb28ab549&i…>) regarding any country specific processes or deadlines and are requested to fill out their application form by 28 March 2025.
Nominators (Governments or organizations) should submit the nominations of all nominees, which they would like to support, before 6 April 2025. Early nominations ahead of this deadline are encouraged. Fellows will be selected by the management committee of the second global assessment, which includes the co-chairs of the assessment and members of the IPBES Bureau and Multidisciplinary Expert Panel.

The dialogue meeting is scheduled for 12 March 2025, 1 p.m. CET. More information will follow shortly.
