ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF WOOD QUALITY/FOREST PRODUCTS
The Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources (WSFNR) of the University of Georgia
(UGA) invites applications for the position of assistant professor or associate professor
of wood quality/forest products, a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month, 75% teaching, 25%
research appointment. We seek an individual with expertise/research interests in
developing technologies to understand, measure, and manage wood quality from managed
forests. A Ph.D. degree in Forestry, Forest Products or a related discipline and a strong
wood properties research background are required. At least one degree in Forestry is
preferred. Evidence of research productivity and ability to teach undergraduate and
graduate courses is required. Hiring rank is contingent on experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Wood Quality Consortium (WQC), a
research cooperative among the Warnell School, forest growers, wood products manufacturers
and the USDA Forest Service. This individual will develop a significant research program
in their area of expertise and be expected to teach an average of two courses per year,
including a Wood Properties undergraduate course and a graduate course in their area of
expertise.
