If you are, please visit our webpage to learn more about a practical course in chemical ecology (https://www.africancentreofchemicalecology.com/about-1) This course will provide opportunities for young scientists and students from the Southern hemisphere to develop critical skills in chemical ecology through hands on experience in methods to advance the collection, identification, characterization and use of semiochemicals in insect pest management. This course is co-organized by the African Centre of Chemical Ecology, Asia-Pacific Association of Chemical Ecology and the Latin American Association of Chemical Ecology and supported by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations and the International Society of Chemical Ecology. To facilitate participation by students and early career professionals from the global south we are offering financial assistance to selected delegates to participate. Applications should be submitted by April 16, 2025 (see https://www.africancentreofchemicalecology.com/about-1 for instructions to apply) to ensure full consideration. The practical course will occur 20-31 October, 2025 (20-26 October will be the practical course; 27-31 October will be an IUFRO Working Party meeting focused on the intersection of the disciplines of behavioral/ chemical ecology and biological control). Delegates selected for participation must attend the practical course and are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting to network and see the techniques covered in the practical course applied to research questions). Delegates must also be prepared to participate in virtual lectures delivered in advance of the practical course to provide necessary background information. Joint Working Party Meeting Announcement

Attention Behavioural/Chemical Ecologists, Biological Control Practitioners and Forest Health Specialists: We are writing to let you know that the week of 27-October, 2025 there will be a joint IUFRO Working Party (7.03.13 "Biological control of forest insects and pathogens" and 7.03.16 "Behavioural and chemical ecology of forest insects) meeting with a focus on the intersection of Behavioural/ Chemical Ecology and Biological Control in Forest Ecosystems. This meeting will occur at the Future Africa campus, University of Pretoria (https://www.up.ac.za/future-africa) This meeting will be a combination of traditional powerpoint presentations and directed discussions, with an emphasis on the latter. Discussion sessions will have experts assigned to facilitate dialogue and rapporteurs to capture ideas in real time. Ideally the notes from these discussions will form the basis of follow up activities (e.g., synthesis papers, research proposals) with interested delegates. This meeting will also have a daylong excursion to see pest and pathogen management in Eucalyptus/Pine plantations and we can facilitate access of delegates to tourism activities (e.g., Kruger National Park) pre- and post-meeting. Southern Forest Health Work Conference, 15-17 July 2025, Tulsa, Oklahoma USA

The 64th annual Southern Forest Health Work Conference (SFHWC) will be held 15-17 July 2025 (Tuesday - Thursday) in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA! We have chosen the Hyatt Regency Tulsa Downtown for our meeting. Although meeting registration is not yet open, I encourage you to make your hotel reservation as soon as possible. We have a block of 70 rooms (Monday and Thursday nights), 90 rooms (Tuesday night), and 85 rooms (Wednesday night) set aside for the group until June 23, 2025, so make your reservations by this date.
