Dear friends and colleagues,
During the IUFRO congress in Curitiba next week, we will have a meeting to discuss future conference plans, proposals for new working parties, changes in coordinators and other important topics.
Everybody with an interest in forest health, tree pathology and entomology and our activities in this space is warmly invited.
The meeting will take place on Friday, 4 October, from 17:30 to 19:20 (i.e., 5:30 - 7:20 pm) in Room R07 - Wing 2.
This is just before the Gala Dinner and transport to the dinner venue will be available.
We used to refer to these meetings as 'Business Meetings' but at this congress it is called an 'Administrative Meeting'. Despite the name, this will be of interest to all scientists participating in working parties and their conferences in the forest health area, and we will try our best to make it 'interesting'.
Please let me know if you have any agenda items you would like to contribute.
We hope you can attend the meeting on Friday evening and look forward to seeing you.
Finally, please note, the earlier meeting on Tuesday, 1 October, from 12:00 to 12:50 in Room R03 - Wing 3, of the pathology and entomology Research Groups will not take place as it clashes with concurrent poster sessions.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Kind regards
Ecki Brockerhoff

Dear Colleagues,
I am happy to share the new website for the Tree Resistance Advocacy Group (TRAG): https://trag.osu.edu <https://trag.osu.edu/>.
For those not familiar with TRAG, information on our group can be found on the homepage. You will also find a list of current signatories and endorsers, and a place for you to become a signatory (https://trag.osu.edu/become-signatory <https://trag.osu.edu/become-signatory>), if interested. Our intention is to use the strength of hopefully, many, worldwide signatories to demonstrate relevance and engage government and other agencies in an effort to promote our vision, described in our one page declaration (attached; link also embedded in the home page).
If you have any ideas, events, or news that would fit in the spirit of the effort, please let me know and I will add them to the site.
On a different note, please consider submitting your manuscripts to section, ‘Pests, Pathogens and Invasions’ within Frontiers in Forests and Global Change. Kimberly Wallin (U. Vermont and USDA Forest Service) and I are the Specialty Chief Editors: https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/forests-and-global-change/sections/pes… <https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/forests-and-global-change/sections/pes…>. Dear all
Thank you to all those that have already submitted their abstracts for the upcoming meeting of IUFRO Working Group 7.03.13 ‘Biological control of forest insect pests and pathogens’, which will take place at Future Africa in Pretoria, South Africa, from 6-8 November 2019.
We have decided to extend the abstract submission deadline to 1 July 2019. Please ensure that you don’t miss this date, as we are unlikely to be able to extend the deadline further.
Information on the post-meeting field trip is now available on the website. The field trip will be a great way to conclude the meeting, including stops to view and discuss forest insect pests and their management, as well as exposure to some of South Africa’s incredible native fauna and flora. And of course an excellent opportunity to engage with fellow researchers.
