Dear friends and colleagues,
I hope this finds you well despite the challenging times and lack of face-to-face meetings. Fortunately, with vaccinations gathering pace, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.
Attached is the annual newsletter and report for 2020 of IUFRO Division 7 (Forest Health) which includes the Pathology and Entomology research groups and working parties. There are news about conference plans, changes of coordinators and deputies, gender balance and geographic balance, etc.
We now have more concrete information on the long planned All-Division 7 conference which will take place from 6 to 9 September 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal. This will run back to back with the next ‘International Workshop on the Genetics of Tree-Parasite Interactions in Forestry’ (12-17 September 2022) in Pontevedra, Spain, with a shared pre-/post-conference tour over the weekend between the two meetings.
We trust you find the newsletter interesting. Please share it with colleagues who have not subscribed to our email mailing lists (our main way of distributing it).
Best wishes

Dear Colleagues,
With great optimism, the Scientific Organizing Committee would like to
announce the new dates of 20-24 September, 2021 for the IUFRO conference,
"Biological Invasions in Forests: Trade, Ecology and Management" to be held
in Prague, Czech Republic. This is a joint meeting of IUFRO units:
7.03.12 - Alien Invasive Species and International Trade
7.03.07 - Population Dynamics of Forest Insects
8.02.04 - Ecology of Alien Invasives
The conference is hosted by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague
Beginning in February we will accept submissions of abstracts for oral and
poster presentations on topics including:
- Invasions of non-native insects, tree pathogens, plants and other
organisms in forest ecosystems
- The role of trade and travel as pathways for invasions
- Ecology and impact of non-native species in forests
- Management of invasions / biosecurity
Registration will also open in February.

Dear colleagues,
My best wishes for a very beautiful year 2021.
With its share of bad news, the end of the year 2020 was no exception to
the rule. Just before Christmas, we learned that our former colleague
Michel Morelet passed away at 82.
Michel was a great mycologist and taxonomist, specialist in the
systematics of Deuteromycetes. His contribution to etiology and
systematics in forest pathology has been substantial. He was one of the
"founding members" of the Forest Pathology Laboratory of INRA in Nancy,
France. All those who knew him will remember him as a passionate man,
jovial and endowed with a very sharp sense of humor.
You can find here <https://mycor.nancy.inra.fr/IAM/?p=10663> an obituary
of Michel Morelet.
Best regards,
Pascal
