It's time to register for the 2025 Southern Forest Health Work Conference, 15-17 July 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa Downtown, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA! IMPORTANT!!!: Please note that this year's schedule begins the morning of Tuesday, July 15 and ends the evening of Thursday, July 17! Please make your hotel reservations and travel plans with this in mind. The SFHWC 2025 registration form is available exclusively online through Eventbrite again this year. The registration fee for professionals is $450 (only $190 for students and retired members), which includes a ticket to the Thursday night banquet for the registrant. Invitation to remotely join Forest Invasion Synthesis Centre Prague Inaugural Symposium, 6-7 May, 2025

[image: image.png] Dear Colleagues, The Forest Invasion Synthesis Centre, Prague (FISC) at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague is pleased to invite you to the „Biological Invasions in Forest“, an Inaugural Symposium <https://forestinvasion.cz/en/r-20694-news-events/r-21107-meeting-2505> that aims to gather an interdisciplinary team of international experts to summarize the current state of scientific knowledge on biological invasions in forests. The objective of the symposium is to cover the breadth of subject matter on forest invasions through a series of invited presentations and use these presentations as a jumping-off point for discussions on future research challenges. Ultimately, the goal of the symposium is to generate discussions that will lead to the development of scientific problems that will be addressed by FISC working groups. We anticipate a formal call for FISC working group proposals this summer but participation in the inaugural symposium is an opportunity for individuals that have ideas for FISC working groups to share these ideas and seek input from others. Practical Course in Chemical Ecology

If you are, please visit our webpage to learn more about a practical course in chemical ecology (https://www.africancentreofchemicalecology.com/about-1) This course will provide opportunities for young scientists and students from the Southern hemisphere to develop critical skills in chemical ecology through hands on experience in methods to advance the collection, identification, characterization and use of semiochemicals in insect pest management. This course is co-organized by the African Centre of Chemical Ecology, Asia-Pacific Association of Chemical Ecology and the Latin American Association of Chemical Ecology and supported by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations and the International Society of Chemical Ecology. To facilitate participation by students and early career professionals from the global south we are offering financial assistance to selected delegates to participate. Applications should be submitted by April 16, 2025 (see https://www.africancentreofchemicalecology.com/about-1 for instructions to apply) to ensure full consideration. The practical course will occur 20-31 October, 2025 (20-26 October will be the practical course; 27-31 October will be an IUFRO Working Party meeting focused on the intersection of the disciplines of behavioral/ chemical ecology and biological control). Joint Working Party Meeting Announcement

Attention Behavioural/Chemical Ecologists, Biological Control Practitioners and Forest Health Specialists: We are writing to let you know that the week of 27-October, 2025 there will be a joint IUFRO Working Party (7.03.13 "Biological control of forest insects and pathogens" and 7.03.16 "Behavioural and chemical ecology of forest insects) meeting with a focus on the intersection of Behavioural/ Chemical Ecology and Biological Control in Forest Ecosystems. This meeting will occur at the Future Africa campus, University of Pretoria (https://www.up.ac.za/future-africa) This meeting will be a combination of traditional powerpoint presentations and directed discussions, with an emphasis on the latter. Discussion sessions will have experts assigned to facilitate dialogue and rapporteurs to capture ideas in real time. Ideally the notes from these discussions will form the basis of follow up activities (e.g., synthesis papers, research proposals) with interested delegates. This meeting will also have a daylong excursion to see pest and pathogen management in Eucalyptus/Pine plantations and we can facilitate access of delegates to tourism activities (e.g., Kruger National Park) pre- and post-meeting.
