Dear Forest Tree Genomics Community
As the coordinators of the Forest Tree Workshop and deputies of IUFRO Working Party 2.04.10 -Tree Genomics, we carry on the tradition of organizing the Forest Tree Workshop at the Plant and Animal Genome (PAG 33; https://intlpag.org/PAG33/) which will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 8 am -12:40 pm in Pacific C at the Town and Country Resort, San Diego, CA.
As in previous years, we solicit draft abstracts for consideration for oral presentation at the Workshop. We review abstracts and take into account the quality of the science, novelty of the results, the organismal, geographic, and research group diversity, and the career status of presenters (with preference to early-career speakers). This allows interested parties to submit abstracts for consideration for an oral presentation without having to register for the conference in advance.
If you want your abstract to be considered for an oral presentation at the Forest Tree Workshop, you MUST submit a 250 word (maximum 1,800 char. incl. spaces) abstract to this site: Forest Tree Workshop Abstract Form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddFVQk-s0UOIYXbpoFyhtUHl6TGrH1dLu…> NO LATER than Sunday, October 26, 2025, 23:59 Pacific Time zone. That gives organizers time to review submissions, select speakers, and inform authors so that they can submit their titles. Abstracts selected for oral presentation will be given additional information for how to submit abstracts prior to the deadline (which is Monday, December 8th).
Abstracts not selected for an oral presentation can still be presented as a poster by submitting the abstract directly to PAG<https://pag.confex.com/pag/33/cfp.cgi>. The deadline for poster abstract submissions is Monday, November 3, 2025.
Be aware that PAG early bird registration deadline is October 31 and rates go up on November 1. Rates for workshop speakers are the same as attendees; however, workshop speakers are protected from paying the increased rate starting November 1 by requesting a discount code from PAG (details provided later).
Thanks for your interest and participation in the workshop. We look forward to receiving your abstracts!

Dear IUFRO members:
IUFRO approved our proposed Task Force on Legacy Forest Data and Related Resources (T57 https://www.iufro.org/task-forces/t57-legacy-forest-data-and-related-resour…) The purpose of this Task Force is to contribute to the rescue, curation, and use of Legacy Forest Information Resources. These resources are older data and other sources that are useful for forest restoration and many other purposes. But they are in danger of being lost due to existing only on paper or older digital formats.
We are also forming a Consortium on Legacy Forest Information Resources linked to the Task Force, so all can participate who are interested in legacy forest information resources. There was more interest than we could accommodate in the Task Force group. If you would like to participate in the Consortium, please fill out the Google Form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1AbTK29G4rpDXdRgBF5nXDP49aWUsIxd…, and we will invite you to join and contribute to the online discussion “spaces” (using Google Chat) on various topics. Please also share this invitation with others.
Thank you!
