UC Farm Advisor Dan Marcum and I are looking for information on the use of Safari
(dinotefuran) pesticide to control black pineleaf scale on ornamental pines. We conducted
a small test this past year applying the pesticide as a soil drench to control the scale
on Scotch pine, but the scale population collapsed naturally before the end of the test.
We were wondering if anyone has successfully used the pesticide against the scale and
under what conditions - host species and size, mode and timing of application, etc.
Any information and advice would be appreciated.
