Dear Colleagues
We invite you to submit an abstract for the Special Session "*Developing
successful biological control programs in forest plantations*" at the IUFRO
World Congress in Curitiba, Brazil, 29 September to 5 October. See below
information on the session and instructions to submit your abstract.
ORGANIZERS: Leonardo Barbosa, Brett Hurley and Carlos Wilcken
CONGRESS THEME: Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Biological Invasions
SCOPE OF THE SESSION: Biological control is one of the priority strategies
traditionally used for exotic forest insect pests. Today many biological
control programs have been implemented throughout the world, including in
forest plantations. In many cases, exotic forest insect pests are shared
between multiple countries and there are thus opportunities to share
knowledge and experience on biological control programmes. This session
examines biocontrol programmes in different countries and on different
insect pests. Presentations include traditional approaches to develop
biocontrol programmes, the use of new technologies, and the involvement of
different stakeholders including forest industry, government and business.
DETAILS OF PRESENTATIONS: Presentation should relate to the scope of the
session. Abstracts for both posters and oral presentations can be
submitted. Authors are limited to a maximum of two abstracts as presenting
author.
DEADLINES: Abstract submission deadline: *December 31, 2018*. Registration
and payment deadline: May 31, 2018.
INSTRUCTIONS: You must be registered for the event to submit an abstract,
but you may pay for registration later, up to May 31. Registration and
