Dear FORENT and FORPATH,
My lab (Forest Health/Garnas lab at the Univ. of New Hampshire, USA; http://mypages.unh.edu/garnaslab) seeks a postdoctoral scholar to examine how host tree and climate drives establishment success of the parasitoid wasp, Tetrastichus planipennisi, introduced to control populations of the invasive Emerald ash borer. The successful candidate will help plan and oversee fieldwork across a climate gradient ranging from Missouri to Minnesota and will be responsible for data management, analysis and interpretation, and publication of results. The position is located in Durham, NH with occasional travel to field sites. Remote work is possible in the case of an exceptional fit.
Applicants should have:
* PhD degree (in Ecology, Evolution, Forestry, Natural Resources, Biostatistics, or related field) in hand by the start date, preferably January 3rd, 2023 or soon thereafter
* Strong statistical, analytical, and data wrangling skills
* Demonstrated programming ability (i.e., R, python, etc.) or facility with other statistical software
* Evidence of a growing publication record consistent with the candidate's career stage
This project is a collaborative effort between the Garnas lab at the University of New Hampshire and Dr. Juli Gould at the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). Funding for this project is currently available for one year, with a high probability for renewal for an additional one or more years, assuming satisfactory performance.
For more information and to apply, please see: https://jobs.usnh.edu/postings/50435. For more information, please send queries to Garnas Lab Recruiting garnaslab.recruiting(a)unh.edu<mailto:garnaslab.recruiting@unh.edu>
The University of New Hampshire and the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment are home to a vibrant community of productive researchers with a strong commitment to student success. Located in the town of Durham, UNH is a beautiful campus surrounded by forest and natural landscapes. Only 30 minutes from the ocean and less than 2 hours from the White Mountains, outdoor and other recreational activities abound, including right on campus.

The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, BOKU (Department of Forest and Soil Sciences; Institute of Forest Entomology, Forest Pathology and Forest Protection) in Austria is offering a 2- to 3-year PhD or post-doc position to study aspects of ash dieback, a serious disease of common ash (Fraxinus excelsior) and other Fraxinus spp caused by the invasive alien ascomycete fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus.
The project aims at improving knowledge on the effect of admixed tree species on the intensity of ash dieback on common ash. The research will be conduced in three field experiments established in 2021 and 2022 where ash trees (reproductive material with putative higher disease
resistance) have been planted in blocks (6 x 6 plants), purely and in equal mixture with various other tree species (24 in total). Another aim is to evaluate the susceptibility of various ash species and genotypes of common ash to ash dieback in existing field experiments.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Please find further information in the attached announcement.

Dear forpath and forent colleagues,
In a bit of shameless self-promotion, I wanted to share that the journal I am Specialty Chief Editor for, with Kimberly Wallin, in the section Pests, Pathogens and Invasions just received its first ever impact factor, a quite respectable 4.332 (7th out of 69 Forestry journals). I hope this will encourage you to submit your next paper to it!
All the best,

Dear Chief Editors,
I hope this email finds you all well. I’m writing with an exciting update. We recently received two new (and long-awaited!) impact metrics for Frontiers in Forests and Global Change.
The Scopus CiteScores were announced, a metric based on a three year citation window with more information about its calculation here<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.elsevier.com/connect/editors-update/…>. The journal has been awarded a CiteScore of 3.6.
The journal Impact Factors were also recently announced. I am truly delighted to inform you that Frontiers in Forests and Global Change has received an Impact Factor of 4.332. This is an incredible achievement and very high for a first Impact Factor. In our SCIE category (Forestry) we rank in the first quartile, specifically 7 out of 69.
Congratulations on this tremendous success! I want to thank each and every one of you for your hard work and contribution to Frontiers in Forests and Global Change, as well as remembering all the journal staff who have supported this journal in its progress. This news will be communicated more formally to external audiences and our community by our marketing and communications team this week.
If you have any questions about these metrics, please do let me know.
All the best,
Abigail

Dear Colleagues:
Attached is the final attachment for the IUFRO 2022 NH Foliar, Shoot, Stem and Rust Diseases of Trees to be held 6/27 to 7/1/2022 at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. Also attached is the agenda and field trip descriptions.

The registration cost of US$425 includes most meals and all field trips. Affordable accommodations is available at university dormitories. Registration and rooms can be reserved:

We have reached an agreement with the journal Frontiers in Forests and Global Change-Pests, Pathogens and Invasions to publish a special issue associated with the meeting. This is an opportune time because the Journal would begin receiving and publishing articles for the special issue in June, just as the Impact Factor is announced. There will be a lot of publicity around the journal at this time, which would, in turn, increase the visibility of the special issue.
If you would like to host the next "Foliage, shoot, and stem diseases" (7.02.02) meeting, please contact me via email at isabel.munck(a)usda.gov<mailto:isabel.munck@usda.gov> and copy Julio Javier Diez Casero at jdcasero(a)pvs.uva.es<mailto:jdcasero@pvs.uva.es>.

Healthy and resilient forests are crucial for safeguarding biodiversity and maintaining ecosystem services. Genetic diversity and integrated pest management are nature-based solutions for continued adaptation of forests to climate change. Moreover, genetic diversity provides both resilience and resistance to stress factors and forest disturbances, such as outbreaks of pests and diseases.
This session will present recent advances in understanding the genetic basis of adaptive traits and resistance to pests and diseases, and integrated management of outbreaks of pests and diseases.
We are looking forward to welcome you in our events either in person or online.
