Greetings,
The School of Forest Resources at the University of Florida is seeking applicants for the
UF Alumni Award Fellowship for new Ph.D. students. This award is the most prestigious
graduate award available at the University and provides a stipend of $22,000/year +
tuition and benefits for 4 years. In addition, the successful applicant will be awarded
the Grinter Award (an additional $2,000 dollars) the first year (to offset moving expenses
etc.). We seek applicants to conduct research in my forest pathology research program,
starting in fall 2008. The nature of the specific project will depend on individual
interests and needs of the program, however, there are many opportunities to engage in
cutting-edge forest pathology research in a growing, vibrant program.
To be considered for this opportunity, potential awardees must be nominated by April 1,
2008. Thus, interested students are urged to contact me directly a.s.a.p. and provide a
letter of research and career interests, a curriculum vitae, unofficial academic
transcripts, GRE scores and provide contact information for 3 references no later than
March 20, 2008. Due to the competitive nature of this fellowship, minimum combined GRE
scores of 1250 and a GPA of 3.8 or higher are required. In addition, a record of
independent research and preferably publications will increase the odds for attaining this
award.
