FOREST PATHOLOGIST
Crown Research Institute Scion undertakes research, science and technology development in
forestry, wood product and wood-derived materials and other biomaterials sectors.
Scion's purpose is to drive innovation and growth from these sectors to create
economic value and contribute to beneficial environmental and social outcomes for New
Zealand.
We are seeking a Forest Pathologist to carry out a programme of research with an emphasis
on the identification and early detection of pathogens not established in New Zealand and
on reducing damage from those already present. The role will include the use and
development of molecular tools to support the programme. The successful candidate will
join the Forest Protection team which is comprised of 30+ pathologists, entomologists,
botanists, pest management and fire researchers.
Our ideal candidate will have a PhD or equivalent degree coupled with at least 5 - 10
years research experience in plant/forest pathology, with skills in molecular techniques.
This is a full time permanent role.
