Consequently, we have extended the deadline for abstract submission to March 9, 2015. Please note that while the conference theme focusses on spruce in mixed forests, we also invite presentations and posters that are relevant to Division 8 (forest environment) and Working Group 1.01.08 (ecology and silviculture of spruce). Description: The conference will focus on benefits, issues, and options associated with growing and managing spruce in mixed forests. We also invite presentations and posters that are relevant to Division 8 (forest environment) and Working Group 1.01.08 (ecology and silviculture of spruce). The program will include invited keynote speakers, volunteer presentations, a panel discussion, and a poster session. A post-conference tour will explore management of Alberta’s forests, including the boreal mixedwood forest in central and northern Alberta and forests on the east slopes of the Rocky Mountains. Who should attend: The event will be of interest to researchers, policy makers and forestry practitioners. Cost: The full registration fee for the conference will be $500. Student Delegate Fee is: $400. Early Bird (June 14 or earlier): Regular delegate $400, Student Delegate: $300; 1 day registration: $175; Banquet (not included in registration): $50/person. The registration website should be available within the next 2 weeks. Cost of the 5 day (4 night) post-conference tour will be approximately $1000. Oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes to follow for questions and discussion.
