Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that the international conference "Role and Fate of Forest Ecosystems in a Changing World" will be held in Bangkok, the "City of Angels", on 15-19 January 2024 back-to-back the 31st biennial conference of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations - Research Group 8.04 on "Air pollution and climate change".
For the first time, the conference will be held in Southeast Asia, in Thailand, which is particularly vulnerable to climate change and air pollution given its large population, highest biodiversity in the tropical zone, and large number of forest-dependent communities. Do not miss this cornerstone of effective international collaboration in the research of air pollution and plant ecosystems.

Hi all,
We hope this email finds you well. This is just a friendly reminder that the registration deadline for the micro-certificate Programs offered by the Faculty of Forestry at UBC is quickly approaching.
These 4 micro-certificate programs include the following:
Climate Vulnerability and Adaptation (CVA)<https://forestry.ubc.ca/programs/certificate/climate-micro-certificate/> provides forest professionals with an understanding of climate science, vulnerability assessments, adaptation development, and how it is applied to management and business case adaptation.
Co-Management of Natural Resources (CNR)<https://forestry.ubc.ca/programs/certificate/co-management-natural-resource…> explores how to advance co-management initiatives, institutional and relational change, and intercultural understanding at the nexus of Indigenous and Western Knowledge systems.
Forest Carbon Management (FCM)<https://forestry.ubc.ca/programs/certificate/forest-carbon-management/> centres on forest carbon accounting, data analysis, and natural resource management to excel in forest carbon projects and associated markets around the world.
Climate Action and Community Engagement (CACE)<https://forestry.ubc.ca/programs/certificate/climate-action-community-engag…> teaches students to engage and train local climate champions to build stronger and more resilient cities in the face of climate change extremes.
As a reminder, these programs are designed to provide participants with advanced training in a number of specific areas, and offers a unique opportunity for professional development. The micro-certificate programs will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field.
The registration deadline for the program is Sunday, February 12. We encourage you to register as soon as possible to secure your spot in the program.
You can you view further information about all programs here: https://forestry.ubc.ca/future-students/certificates/

FORESTED LANDSCAPES in the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework: mitigation options towards implementation of the SDGs
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to the IUFRO Division 8 Conference in 2023. The event will be held in-person, in Portugal, on 24th-27th October 2023, at the University of Évora, 140km from Lisbon, in the center of this historical UNESCO World Heritage town and surrounded by the very unique silvo-pastoral landscapes of the Alentejo region.
The conference focus is on the critical role of forested landscapes facing pressures driven by the Anthropocene. Increasing challenges require approaches at different spatial and temporal scales to develop the understanding on the different ongoing processes and their consequences for ecological and socio-ecological systems and to find well-suited solutions towards increasing sustainability.
Abstract submissions until 31st March 2023.
