Dear Colleagues, IUFRO Division 3 will host the first Division 3 Doctoral Conference in Corvallis, Oregon, USA (August 29th - September 2nd, 2016). The purpose of this conference is to build cohort, friendship and fellowship among future research scientists in our discipline. As most of you already know, there are not many young research scientists working in our discipline around the world. This presents a challenge to our research community today and in the future. Cohort-building and networking in an early stage of career is important, and this Conference is intended to provide just that - Connecting Knowledge and Mind! Networking and friendship will benefit the current PhD students throughout their career, and perhaps enable them to work together to solve the challenges our generation will leave behind. The Conference will be led mainly by students and provide ample opportunities of research discussion, peer mentoring, culture sharing and having great fun! Oregon State University (OSU) will provide lodging, most meals and ground transportation for (hopefully) all student participants during the one-week Conference. Participants will need to pay their own travel expenses to Oregon.
