Betreff: FEC2018 - Rotorua, New Zealand
Dear IUFRO Division 3 members,
Yes, it is time to sign up for FEC2018 to be held in Rotorua, New Zealand!! This truly international Forest Engineering conference only occurs once every 3 or 4 years; so dust off your travel bags, pack you swim gear and get ready to be part of it. Ideally you will submit an <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfPXVLi7OGW4M3U-PKp-wsmZ5nFDrYqXLK…> abstract (due by the 15th of Dec) and become part of the speaker programme, but we have plenty of space for those who just want to <https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/forest-engineering-conference-fec2018-rotoru…> register, sit back, enjoy the atmosphere and “quench their thirst for new knowledge” (this is the theme of the conference after all).
For details please see the programme attached:
· Monday is an optional workshop where in small groups you will spend the day with a leading NZ company in a theme of your choice.
· Tuesday we have a great line-up of plenary session speakers, followed by concurrent technical sessions and the delicious conference dinner.
· Wednesday is the all-day field trip, including the largest log loading port in NZ as well as modern logging operations. Lunch is at the beach!
· Thursday is technical sessions, and an early finish to allow you to start you ‘non-technical’ activities…
While this FEC programme alone makes the trip to New Zealand worthwhile, Rotorua is a geothermal area with extensive tourist and outdoor sporting opportunities. Plan to stay a few days extra, bring your family.
We look forward to seeing you there,
Rien Visser, Mark Brown and Raffaele Spinelli
