Best regards, Woodam ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Call for abstracts [cid:image003.png@01DA84EA.5F7381B0] Optimization and Wildfire Conference October 1-4 2024, Luso, Portugal https://ow.dps.uminho.pt/ We invite the submission of abstracts for the Optimization and Wildfire Conference to be held in Luso, Portugal, from the 1st to the 4th of October. We have the honour to have as keynote speakers three distinguished personalities of the area: - David Martell (University of Toronto), - Yu Wei (Colorado State University), and - José Borges (University of Lisbon). The conference location is in a landmark Portuguese forest (Mata do Bussaco, a managed forest since the XVII century) in the center of Portugal, a region that was tragically devastated by wildfires in 2017. We believe the conference, with the support of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology through project O3F - An Optimization Framework to reduce Forest Fire (https://o3f.dps.uminho.pt) will result in a vision of the state-of-the-art and the identification of emergent topics in O&W, affirming the relevance and potential of Operational Research, Optimization and related areas in wildfire management.
