Dear all,
the IUFRO Working Parties 9.03.03 Historical Ecology and 9.03.06
Biocultural Diversity are happy to announce the webinar "*Why trees matter
on farms: embracing agroforestry and agrobiodiversity for resilient
landscapes and food systems*" for *November 25th, 9.30-11.30 CET*, on
the importance of planting, managing, and preserving trees in farmland.
Trees in farmland can provide multiple ecosystem services, counteracting
land degradation and increasing food security, with positive effects on the
wellbeing of rural communities around the world.
The webinar, moderated by Agnes W. Mwangombe from the University of Nairobi
(Kenya) and Stephen Wyatt from Université de Moncton (Canada), will present
case studies and experiences from Asia, Europe, and Africa, testifying the
key role of traditional and indigenous knowledge in preserving and managing
trees in farmland and their contribution to sustainable rural development.
*More info can be found in the draft agenda attached to this email.*
*How to join? *The webinar is open to a broad audience, including
policymakers, researchers, restoration practitioners, NGOs, youth, donors,
and IUFRO member institutions across Africa and beyond. *The registration
is open and can be found at this link
