The IUFRO Task Force - Post-Conflict Forest Landscape Restoration: Make "It Back
Better" – invites contributions for a forthcoming Special Feature of Sustainability
Science on “Post-conflict Forest Landscape Restoration: sustainability pathways for
socio-ecological recovery and resilience”
Armed conflicts profoundly disrupt forest landscapes and the communities that depend on
them. Ecosystems are degraded, governance institutions weakened, and social cohesion
fractured. Yet post-conflict forest landscape restoration (FLR) offers a critical
opportunity not only to repair ecological damage but also to foster justice, social
healing, peacebuilding, and resilience. This Special Feature will explore sustainability
pathways for FLR in diverse conflict-affected contexts. We seek contributions that engage
with sustainability science perspectives and examine the coupled ecological, social, and
institutional dimensions of restoration.
