The objective of the conference is to bring together expertise to explore solutions and develop practices in regions where balance and maintenance are essential in conserving resilience and addressing recovery of landscapes. You are invited to submit abstracts for a paper in the following subjects: 1) Urban forestry, health and well-being; 2)Community values in conservation; 3) Conservation and Sustainable rural development in contested landscapes: international perspectives; 4) Private sector on nature conservation; 5) Nature-based recreation and tourism; 6) Human–wildlife conflict management; 7) Boosting connectivity: Trans-boundary parks and corridors; 9) Word Cup and tourism in Brazilian National Parks.

2013 National Outdoor Recreation Conference
Student Conference Scholarships
Motivated and accomplished students enrolled full-time in an outdoor recreation management, planning, or closely-related degree program are encouraged to apply.
Up to at eight student scholarships will be awarded for the 2013 National Outdoor Recreation Conference. At least half of the scholarships awarded will be to qualified students from within the surrounding region. A scholarship valued at $785 will be awarded to cover lodging, conference registration, and one-year student membership to SORP. Included in this total is a $250 check to be used for travel expenses. All scholarship recipients are expected to attend the full four-day conference.
The deadline for student conference scholarship applications is February 15, 2013.

The response for submitting abstracts for poster and presentation sessions to the IUFRO Conference on Forests for People and the 2013 National Outdoor Recreation Conference has been gratifuying. Ninety-five abstracts have been submitted to date---some to host a larger session and some for individual presentations.
Due to the normal challenges of international communications, we have decided to extend the deadline for abstracts for the IUFRO Conference on Forests for People to January 15, 2013.
The submittal requirements and directions remain the same.

Subject: Conference announcement and cfp: Community Forestry
Dear colleagues,
It is my pleasure to inform you about the conference “New Challenges for Community Forestry: Sharing Scientific Knowledge in a South – North Perspective” to be held in
Remscheid, GERMANY, 23. – 25. September 2013. The conference is collaboratively organized by the University of Göttingen and the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Agriculture in North Rhine-Westphalia and supported by IUFRO.
Major topic of the conference will be the contribution of community forestry toward overcoming current challenges, including community-based forest governance, forest-climate change, the urbanisation of forest owners, biodiversity decline, equity amongst forest users (including gender issues) and the role of community forests as sustainable energy suppliers. Amongst others, keynote speakers are Arun Agrawal, Melanie McDermot, and Wolfram Dressler.
Authors are invited to submit their proposal by sending an extended abstract . Deadline for submission is February, 28 2013.
