On Social Aspects of Forests and Forestry - Interview with Division 6 Coordinator Tuija Sievänen

Read an interview with Division 6 Coordinator Tuija Sievänen of the Natural Resources Institute Finland, about the work in IUFRO Division 6 and the All-Division Meeting at the IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress. The range of topics covered by Division 6 is broad and goes into all kinds of issues related to the cultural and social aspects of forestry and forests. This research can offer valuable input for the understanding of the foresthuman relationship. Division 6 had many good sessions at the Congress and there were a lot of social aspects integrated into other sessions outside the Division. It is good progress to see social sciences having such a large role in forest sciences. Social issues are of growing interest in the forestry sector, and the interest will continue to grow and a broad spectrum of research will be done on those issues in future. Dear IUFRO Division 6 members and colleagues, IUFRO Division 6 Research Group 6.10.00 Rural Development and Division 4 Research Group 4.02.00 Forest Resources Inventory and Monitoring are organizing Session 39 - Beyond Carbon: REDD+ implementation in the local level during the IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress in Freiburg and would like to invite you to attend and involve in the discussion. Session 39 - Beyond Carbon: REDD+ implementation in the local level Time: Mon. 18/09/2017, 08:00 - 12:00 (Session 39 a and 39b) Room: KG I - 1015 (Uni Freiburg) The Session will present the experiences of implementing REDD+ in the field from at least 8 countries as well as concepts and way forward for the benefit sharing mechanism in REDD+. We do hope to produce an invaluable recommendation for REDD+ implementation in the local level and would appreciate if you can attend this Session and involve in achieving this aim.
