The 25th IUFRO World Congress will be held from 29 September to 5 October 2019 in Curitiba, Brazil (http://www.iufro2019.com/) The Call for Congress Session Proposals is now OPEN (please see attached). If you are interested in organizing technical sessions during the Congress, please submit your proposals by 1 August 2018.
IUFRO Student Research Award
IUFRO recognizes outstanding young research scientists and students at the World Congress through two IUFRO awards: Outstanding Doctoral Research Award and Student Award for Excellence in Forest Science. Please consider nominating young research scientists in our discipline for the Awards. The deadline for nomination is 31st August, 2018. Dear Colleagues,
IUFRO Units 4.04.04—Sustainable Forest Management Scheduling, IUFRO Unit 4.03—Informatics, Modelling, and Statistics and IUFRO Unit 4.03.03. Information management and information technologies are sponsoring a Special Issue of Forests (http://www.mdpi.com/journal/forests) on Decision Support to Address Multiple Ecosystem Services in Forest Management Planning
We welcome the submission of manuscripts for publication in this Forests special issue (SI). This SI aims at contributing to our understanding of how we can enhance forest management planning, in integrating a wide range of ecosystem services (ES) and assuring a sustainable supply (e.g. products and services listed in the Millenium Ecosystem Assessment). We welcome manuscripts that focus on 1) models to help forest managers check the impact of management options on the provision of ES, 2) methods to help forest managers develop plans targeting the supply of ES, 3) methods to help forest managers analyze tradeoffs between a multitude of ES, 4) methods to help forest managers assess the sensitivity of the supply of ecosystem services to uncertain parameters, 5) multiple criteria decision support systems and 6) approaches to map the demand for ES and the quality and quantity of ES supply. Papers submitted for publication in this Special Issue will undergo a rigorous peer review process with the aim of prompt and wide dissemination of research results and applications.

Colleagues,
The members of the Task Force "Forest Adaptation and Restoration under Global Change" of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) are conducting a survey to gain data and insights for developing best practice approaches for forest adaptation and restoration under global change. This survey relies on the knowledge of experts/professionals from forestry and related fields and their information about actual examples of Adaptive Measures in Forestry and Forest Restoration.
The collected data will contribute valuable information to a study of the local and regional experiences with Adaptive Forest Management (AFM) and Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) under climate- and societal change with the aim to increase the adaptive capacity of forests and forest landscapes with regards to those changes.
If you are working or have experience in this field, please participate in this survey. You can choose among 13 languages. It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to fill in the survey and we would like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
