Dear colleagues,
Our colleagues from Martin Luther University, Germany (dr. Marcin Spyra
and dr. Nica Claudia Calo), CONICET National Scientific and Technical
Research Council, Argentina (dr. Guillermo J. Martinez Pastur) and
University of Catania, Italy (Prof. dr. Daniele La Rosa) are working on
the study titled “Policy making and spatial planning for reducing
ecosystem services trade-offs in peri-urban landscapes”.
They need you participation in this study by filling the on-line survey
they prepared.
Objectives of the study and survey are:
1. To identify existing shortcomings, concerning to how ecosystem
services (ES) trade-offs in peri-urban landscapes (PULs) are addressed
by policy instruments and planning documents on the regional level;
2. To describe good practices (GP) related to governance and planning
of ES trade-offs in PULs
Majority of the questions in the survey are closed, however a
comprehensive work on this survey might take up to 40 minutes. Before
start working on this survey please prepare basic information concerning to:
- binding policy instrument related to your whole region, which address
(or is supposed to) ES trade-offs in PULs;
- binding planning document related to your whole region, which address
(or is supposed to) ES trade-offs in PULs;
- Good Practice from your region, which is related to policy making and
planning of ES trade-offs in PULs.
Please fill the survey until the *21^st of August 2020.*

Assunto: IALE-Russia online conference - abstract submission deadline
15 July 2020

Dear colleagues,
We have extended the deadline for abstracts submission for a long
presentation to 15 July 2020.
Having learned more about online conferences we see that this format
provides better opportunities for perception of presentations and their
further discussion. As an option, the presentation can be recorded and
sent to the organizers in advance to ensure the stable display during
the session.
The abstracts for flash presentations will be accepted until 31 August
2020. Flash-presentation is a 5-minute talk which we offer as
a substitute for a poster. We reckon it will get better feedback in an
online format than a poster could do.
With kind regards and best wishes,
Tatiana Kharitonova,
Conference secretary

Dear colleagues,
the video of the webinar is now available at: https://youtu.be/DrCarDCb6Ko
Several minutes in the introduction and part of the initial statements
are lost (sorry about that) but all the good parts are in it.
Take care.

Objet : TR: Webinar on landscape ecology and covid-19
Dear Collègues looking forward for your participation and thank you for spreading the information about the event in your networks (see poster attach)
IUFRO Landscape Ecology Working Group is inviting you to a Webinar - June 24, 15:00-16:00 CET
How can landscape ecology contribute to stop the spread of human diseases and to create safer environments for human communities?
The debate around the COVID-19 pandemic has raised several questions regarding how zoonosis are transmitted from ecosystems to humans, how diseases spread within human societies, over regions and across continents, and how effective are measures that countries and communities adopt to fight pandemics. Most of these issues have a strong spatial socioecological component.
Join us on a discussion organized by IUFRO Forest Landscape Ecology Group in this webinar, the first of a series dedicated to emerging issues in landscape ecology and society, with the contribution of outstanding scientists with a global and integrative perspective of science and society (see flyer attached).

IUFRO Landscape Ecology Working Party Webinar - June 24, 15:00-16:00 CET
Landscape ecology and the covid-19 pandemics: How can landscape ecology
contribute to stop the spread of human diseases and to create safer
environments for human communities?
The debate around the COVID-19 pandemic has raised several questions
regarding how zoonoses are transmitted from ecosystems to humans, how
diseases spread within human societies, over regions and across
continents, and how effective are measures that countries and
communities adopt to fight pandemics. Most of these issues have a strong
spatial socioecological component.
Landscape ecology, both conceptually and methodologically, has the
potential to play an active role in explaining, describing and
forecasting the emergence and spread of zoonoses, to inform
decision-making on sustainable measures to minimize their spread and to
build spread safe landscapes. This is a research opportunity for
landscape ecology but mostly it is an opportunity for landscape
ecologists to be actively involved in the development of solutions for
evolving societal problems.
These are the main issues to be addressed by the IUFRO Landscape Ecology
Working Party in this webinar, the first of a series dedicated to
emerging issues in landscape ecology and society, with the contribution
of outstanding scientists with a global and integrative perspective of
science and society (see flyer attached).
We will inform you soon about the webinar platform.
