conduct innovative and high-impact research at the Center for Systems
Integration and Sustainability (CSIS) at Michigan State University
Research topics may include telecoupling (socioeconomic- environmental
interactions over distances, through means such as flows of ecosystem
services, trade of goods and services, globalization, migration, species
invasion, disease spread, and tourism,
science, UN Sustainable Development Goals, coupled human and natural
systems, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, human well-being,
forest and landscape ecology, global change, systems integration (e.g.,
integration of ecology with social sciences and policy; food-energy-water
nexus), wildlife ecology and conservation (e.g., giant pandas in China),
land change science, and systems modeling and simulation (e.g., agent-based
modeling). Studies on these topics by faculty and students at CSIS have been
published in journals such as Science, Nature, and PNAS. With flexible start
dates (e.g., spring, summer or fall of 2020), successful candidates can
build on previous studies and explore new frontiers.
Application materials include: (1) letter of application, (2) CV or resume,

Objet: REMINDER! IUFRO TF "Transforming forest landscapes for future climates and human well-being", first TF meeting in Curitiba (2 October 2019, 17:30 to 18:20), FLR have day (1 October, 14:00 to evening)
thanks to many of you for the positive feedback to come today to our half day and tomorrow to the TF meeting.
It is also my pleasure to inform that we have also with Rene Zamora another IUFRO award winner (for outstanding doctoral research) in our TFG. Congratulations to you, Rene. What a wonderful team!
Best regards and enjoy the conference,
this is just a reminder for all IUFRO WC participants that we will meet the day after tomorrow (02/10/19) in Room R13 - WING 2 at 17:30 for our TF meeting to discuss the further activites. I would appreciate if many of you will come.
In addition I will draw your attention to our FLR have day tomorrow (01/10/19, from 14:00 to the evening) with the subplenary and afterwards technical session on Forest Adaptation and Restoration and then the side event on FLR implementation, all will take place in the small theater.
Last but not least I would like to congratulate our member Shankar Adhikari who will receive the IUFRO Student Award for excellence in Forest Science! Well done, Shankar, and I appreciate to have you in our TF group.
Hope to see many of you today or later at the congress venue.
I have got the confirmation of the date of our TF meeting in Curitiba. It will take place on 2nd October from 17:30 to 18:20 (R13 - WING 2). It is announced under the "old" TF 31 Forest Adaptation and Restoration under Global Change, but it is meant as a kick off for our new TF.
Unfortunately, there is an overlapping with the admin meeting of unit 1.01.00 (Temperate and boreal silviculture) where some of you I am involved in, but I will see how to handle it.
Looking forward to see many of you in Curitiba.
