The International Conference "Between Tradition and Increasing Challenges: Future Development of Small-scale and Community Forestry in Times of Global Change", organized by the three IUFRO Units 3.08.00, 9.03.00 and 9.05.06 is coming up soon!
The conference will provide a unique opportunity to bring together researchers from all over the world to share evidence-based knowledge on small-scale and community forestry issues in Latin America, including the ecological, institutional and anthropogenic factors influencing the management and evolution of forests and forest landscapes. As traditional knowledge plays a substantial role in both small-scale and community forest ownership models, the integration of a historical dimension will provide an additional source of information in order to interpret and understand the challenges and constraints related to global change.
Attached are the preliminary program and an overview of the In-Conference Tour for your information!
Registration is still open at http://www.latinoamericajointiufromeeting.com/registration/ - so make your plans and participate in this exciting event!

Betreff: Call for papers
Dear Colleagues,
The IUFRO Units 4.04.04 'Sustainable Forest Management Scheduling' and 4.04.06 'Nature Conservation Planning' are sponsoring a Special Issue on Decision Support for Integrated Policy Analysis to be published in Forest Policy and Economics (http://www.journals.elsevier.com/forest-policy-and-economics <http://www.mdpi.com/journal/sustainability> ).
This Special Issue originates from an initiative of Working Group 2 “Forestry modelling for integrated policy analysis” of COST Action FP1207 “Orchestrating forest-related policy analysis in Europe (ORCHESTRA)". It addresses a topic that is relevant to the five themes of the IUFRO 2015-2019 Strategy and that is transversal to Divisions 3, 4, 6 and 9.
We welcome the submission of manuscripts reporting research of models, methods and/or decision support systems (DSS) that account for forest-related policy analysis at multiple levels and its application in real case studies. As currently, little information is available about decision support tools used for forest policy development, a special focus should be on the information provided by different types of decision support tools at different scales and on the benefits and limitations/challenges of the approaches presented. Particular attention should be paid to forest-related policy fields such as biodiversity, climate change, bioenergy, trade and green economy.
The deadline for manuscript submission: 30 September 2016

Sorry for any crossposting. Please disseminate this information to whomever you think might be interested.
Thank you.

Dear all,
please be informed about the final conference of Cost Action Orchestra
to be held from 5-6 September 2016 in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
CONFERENCE ANOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
“Bioeconomy and ecosystem services, synergy or conflict? Horizontal and
vertical policy analysis, modelling and orchestration in practice”
BACKGROUND: ORCHESTRA aims at supporting the coherence of forest-related
policy targets and efficiency of policy measures. ORCHESTRA has
facilitated multinational, transdisciplinary collaboration between
sociologists, policy scientists, economists and modellers as well as
active interaction with various stakeholders. The new knowledge can be
used by European policy and decision makers to adjust forest-related
policies and their implementation to the requirements of multilevel and
multi-stakeholder governance.

Final call for abstracts for the 2016 FLARE Meeting in Edinburgh!
FLARE (Forests and Livelihoods: Assessment, Research, and Engagement) <http://www.forestlivelihoods.org/> aims (1) to advance cutting-edge knowledge and practices regarding forest-based livelihoods, governance, biodiversity, and climate change; (2) increase dialogue and interactions between practitioners and researchers/scholars; and (3) create a global community of practice on forest-livelihood interactions. The second annual meeting will focus on the approaches, methods, tools, and indicators to assess how, where, and why governing forest and forest mosaics for improving livelihoods works, and how it can be strengthened.
Submit your abstract for a paper, panel session, lightning talk, poster, or workshop before July 10th. Don't miss your chance to be considered for one of three cash prizes for the best paper submitted and presented!
