Fellow Landscape Ecologists,
We are looking for two awesome individuals to join us at Texas State
University, one at the Asst Prof level in Physical Geography and one at the
Full/Assoc Prof level in Environmental/Physical Geography. Both ads are
broad, but note that we are giving preference to Water Resources for the
Asst Prof ad. The Full/Assoc Prof ad is aimed at Landscape Ecologists,
Watershed Scientists, or anyone else who uses sophisticated modeling
techniques to investigate biophysical processes that are important for env

The Department of Geography at Texas State University has 39 full-time
faculty members, over 500 undergraduate majors in BA and BS programs and
over 120 graduate students in our Master of Science (MS), Master of Applied
Geography (MAG), and PhD programs in Geography, Geographic Education, and
Geographic Information Science. The Department of Geography is part of the
College of Liberal Arts. Texas State University is located in San Marcos, a
city of about 65,000 residents situated in the beautiful Central Texas Hill
Country, 30 miles south of Austin and 48 miles north of San Antonio. The

A: “Publishing your research in an open science environment”
As changes in the forest sector have reached to the research environment and publishing, it is as vital now as ever to make sure that researchers are communicating their work effectively and professionally in this open research environment. This course is specifically designed to address the competencies needed by providing a unique and applicable training for students and early career scientists, by including talks by editors of leading forest science journals and will include real-world examples. Students will be instructed on the scientific writing process and will improve on and gain scientific writing skills necessary to publish in a research environment.
B: “Forest Entrepreneurship”
With increasing demand of timber products and agricultural land, there is growing pressure to find sustainable alternatives in forest use. Several professional accreditations have therefore identified entrepreneurship as a highly desirable soft skill for a knowledge-based society, as a tool to bridge science and practice. This course fosters entrepreneurship learning by using the forestry sector as a context, and will teach the basics of forest entrepreneurship by providing real world examples of situations where businesses could develop, and expound upon students’ understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and their relation to forestry.
