Remote Participation
In recognition of the environmental impact of the travel involved in
bringing together hundreds of Landscape Ecologists to our annual
conference, IALE-North America is exploring options for remote
presentation and remote access to presentation content. We hope to use
the 2020 conference as a test bed for new ideas in remote delivery,
while recognizing there may be unforeseen issues. This is likely to be a
several years long experiment.
At this time, we plan to offer and test the following remote-delivery
options at the 2020 conference to be held in Toronto:
* Plenary talks webcast live and recorded for later viewing online
* One session of remote presenters offered in one room for a specific
time period
* Voluntary submission of Powerpoint presentations (PDF format,
optionally with voice-over narration) so that they can be made
accessible to those who have paid to participate in the conference,
including remote presenters
Please note that remote presenters will pay the normal registration fee
due to the fixed costs involved in providing the annual conference, as
well as additional effort and cost involved in setting up the remote
option.
The 2020 conference online abstract submission form offers checkboxes to
indicate interest in participating as a remote presenter and/or
willingness to share Powerpoint presentations.
Sincerely,
Janet Silbernagel, IALE-North America President

Objet : we're looking for postdoc, PhD, MSc applicants and more!!
Hi Folks,
I’m launching an exciting new pan-Canadian network that brings together over 50 researchers from nearly a dozen universities, working alongside 17 government, industry, and NGO partners who aim to transform Canada’s capacity to monitor, model, and manage its working landscapes and all the ecosystem services they provide for long-term well-being and shared prosperity of all Canadians.
We are building our team, with many openings for positions in project management, data management, and a variety of research (including postdoctoral, PhD, MSc, and undergraduate) positions. Please pass this email along to anyone you know in this field who is currently looking for a position to work on exciting ecosystem service projects!
I’ve listed two modelling-oriented postdoctoral positions below; you can find more information about several other PhD and MSc positions and more on my website <http://bennettlab.weebly.com/join-the-lab.html> . These positions span the ES-research space from governance to GIS to modelling. There really is something for everyone interested in using ES to improve management of working landscapes!
(Note - most positions are not in my lab, but based with other teams in a variety of locations across Canada. However, as PI of the network, I’m happy to answer questions about any positions!)
Hope everyone is doing well.
Best,
Elena
