Call for Abstracts
The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Extension and Knowledge Exchange Working Party (EKE, IUFRO 9.01.03) invites your submission of an abstract for this year's Working Party Conference. This year's theme is Knowledge Exchange for the Modern Era: Empowering People / Providing Solutions. Abstracts will be accepted for either 20 minute oral presentations or 5 minute lightning round presentations. See the abstract website for more details. Deadline for consideration is June 1st, 2020. Approved abstract authors will be notified by June 21st regarding the status of their submissions.

Extension plays a key role in empowering individuals and communities to take action. This conference celebrates the successes of what we do every day in our Extension lives. The conference offers opportunities to learn from each other and build strong partnerships from local to international.
Our hosts from the Extension Forest Resources unit at North Carolina State University, are developing a first class international effort to be held in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. The event will feature both indoor and outdoor sessions as well as opportunities to learn more about one of the most unique cultural and natural treasures in the world.

Forest Policy and Economics (2018 IF 3.099; highly ranked in Forestry, Economics, Environm. Studies) is happy to announce a competition for eliciting the best proposal for a special issue (SI) to be published by the journal in the fields of Forest Policy/Governance as well as Forest Economics, respectively (see https://www.journals.elsevier.com/forest-policy-and-economics/news/award-fo… ). Any group or individual, including young scholars, who has a substantial track record in a field of research relevant to the journal and whose networks reach out to potential authors in that field, is invited to submit a proposal and serve as its Guest Editor(s). Proposals should be concise (max 3 pages), provide Guest Editors' name(s), the study background and justification, the joint SI objectives, as well as the contributions' titles and author names already confirmed or likely being contributed to the SI (the number of contributions is not limited to upper or lower bounds). Abstracts of such contributions are strongly encouraged being annexed to the 3 pages. The winners of the competition will be awarded promotional open access for all contributions to the SI for a fixed term of 6 months. Proposals will be assessed based on (i) the originality and timeliness of the topic, (ii) their internal coherence, as well as (iii) the quality of the envisaged contributions. Proposals should be addressed to Lukas.Giessen(a)efi.int<mailto:Lukas.Giessen@efi.int> until May 31st 2020.

Forests are among our planet's most important human life-supporting
ecosystems, and there are many expectations with regards to the ecosystem
services they provide. But: how do major global challenges such as climate
change and biodiversity loss affect forests globally, and what can forest
governance and management do? How can rising and changing demands for forest
products and ecosystem services due to global population and economic
growth, and urbanization be dealt with? How can forest policy navigate
between demands originating from other policy sectors, such as agriculture,
environment, energy, and rural development?
These and more questions will be discussed in the framework of the
international conference "Governing and managing forests for multiple
ecosystem services across the globe", taking place on 26-28 February 2020 in
Bonn, Germany.
The conference, which is organized by several international organizations,
is supported by IUFRO Division 9 - Forest Policy and Economics

Working Party 9.05.07 - Science policy interactions

will bring together ca. 200 international policymakers, practitioners and

inter-generational dialogues.

On Thursday, 27 February 2020, 7:30 to 9:15 pm, there will be an open panel
discussion on "The future of forests managed for multiple services in Europe
- where are we heading towards and what can we expect from the "European
Green Deal"?"

announcement of the second AFORPOLIS conference that will take place in
Accra, Ghana from the 14th to the 17th of September 2020.
The new information provided by this announcement are:
