Dear Colleagues,
IUFRO’s 125th Anniversary Congress aimed to provide a platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge and a dialogue across the full range of forest-related topics and scientific disciplines. This call for a special issue of Open Agriculture is focused on the topics covered in a number of sessions organized by Working Group 4.05.00 and Division 4. Manuscripts of papers presented at the Freiburg conference or other manuscripts related to these topics are welcome.

TERRAenVISION Environmental Issues Today: Scientific Solutions for Societal Issues
Our Planet suffers from human activities. As scientists, we know more and more about our environment, about processes, rates of change, new threats and risks. However, the challenges seem to grow quicker than the solutions we can create.
This conference aims to focus on the scientific research towards finding solutions for the societal issues of our time. TERRAenVISION promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and networking. To bring scientists and stakeholders that have the same goal, work on the same societal issue, but have different scientific backgrounds. By bringing the people and their knowledge together, we may be able to take the steps towards solutions that can bring our society to a more sustainable situation. In this conference, we want to link to International policies such as the sustainable Development Goals, the UN Climate conventions, CAP and COP.
Environmental issues we would like to highlight and discuss:
This conference is framed around themes. Each theme is kicked off by two plenary keynote speeches of 20 min, followed by a discussion. After the plenary session, a range of different parallel sessions will be organised.
We also want to stress that the conference is not only for scientists, but also warmly would like to invite people from outside the scientific world.

3. Land Degradation and Restoration
4. Nature based solutions

I am looking for a smart young scholar to join my research group as a PhD student working on questions from the field of forest economics.
We offer the successful candidate a 4-year scholarship to pursue excellent research at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in close collaboration with Natural Resources Canada - Canadian Forest Service (NRCan-CFS). The project offers the unique opportunity to work on a large-scale research project with other project partners, such as Université Laval and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). I commented that I am in my doctoral thesis work at the National University of Buenos Aires, Accounting guidance. My thesis topic is Environmental Management Accounting (EMA), its implementation in forestry, with emphasis on forests of Mesopotamia Argentina (eucaliptus and pine).
My question is the following: You know in IUFRO some researcher or group of researchers that is doing some work on EMA in forestry?
