Dear colleagues
We remind you of our web survey about the effects of forest
certification on biodiversity conservation in tropical forests. If you
did not have the time yet, we invite you to please visit
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/V6CJBK6 and complete this survey. It
takes only ten minutes. We intend to close the survey by 15 June.
Please also share with colleagues. It is open to everyone. We are
especially keen to have more input from forest managers!
Through this anonymous survey, we try to obtain opinions and
perspectives from forest management and conservation researchers,
practitioners and other experts on the following broad topics:
*The effectiveness of certification for biodiversity conservation
*The objectives of biodiversity management in tropical forests
*Current management and certification practices
These are important topics and we want to hear your views. The more
input we get the more valuable the survey will be.
Background: The European Tropical Forest Research Network (ETFRN) plans
to issue an ETFRN News about experiences and best practices regarding
forest management certification and the conservation of forest
biodiversity. The editors of the ETFRN News (Douglas Sheil, Jack Putz
and undersigned) are conducting a brief survey to accompany the papers
contributed by authors for this news issue.
Thank you very much for your collaboration, and again we request you to
please forward to colleagues.
Best regards and many thanks for all the input!

Dear Björn Hånell!
I searched for, found, got 460 hectares of degraded land. They planted and grow 100 hectares of rare, endangered and species of trees from the Red Book. Each year up to a forest area of 5-10 hectares. I am the first and so far only in Russia, forest farmer. My goal is to restore degraded land through planting and establishment of forest on this land. Please provide information about organizations and individuals carrying out similar work. I would be grateful for the advice of specialists in the field of rehabilitation of degraded lands and reproduction of such forest resources. Please include my details to send information about planned activities.

Dear Colleagues,
As you see from below, the CIF/Forest Investment Program is now establishing
its operational structures.
A key step is the selection of experts who will advise the FIP sub-Committee
on choosing pilot countries. As you see from the documents below about 6-8
experts with a diverse range of skills and knowledge are to be selected.
It is extremely important for achieving FIP goals that experts with proven
global expertise and experience in forestry, climate change and development
are nominated.
We count on you in helping out in this important matter.
You are kindly requested to spread the information and/or nominate
qualified experts (including yourself) for this assignment.
Many thanks for you cooperation

Dear Madam/Sir,
I have a message to transmit to the division 1 IUFRO members. Could you
forward it?
Thank you
« Dear colleagues,
we are looking for bark beetles from Europe and Asia of two species : Ips
typographus and Dendroctonus micans. We are also interested in the
ulstraspecific predator Rhizophagus grandis, often found in the galleries of
D. micans.
Would it be possible for you to send me beetles (put alive in alcohol 100%)
?
We can provide the material if necessary (eppendorfs and ethyl alcohol) and
will naturally cover any related expenses.
We need the location where the samples were collected and eventually the
tree specie attacked (Picea sp.or Pinus sp.).
We need around then individuals by country, preferentially catched in
different sites but we will be grateful with any beetles found.
Sample could be sent to:
