This message is just to let you know that the deadline for submitting your manuscript for our special issue in Eur. J. For. Res. entitled "Uneven-aged silviculture: insights into forest adaptation in times of global changes" has been extended to July 31st.
As mentioned earlier, given the interest in this topic, the journal editors have decided to make this special section open to manuscript submissions from anyone interested in and conducting research on the topic (the special section is not restricted to scientists who presented at the conference).
When submitting manuscripts to this special section, you will need to use the normal submission process and then indicate that the manuscript belongs to the collection entitled: Uneven-aged silviculture: insights into forest adaptation in times of global change. A screenshot of this drop-down menu is attached.

We are pleased to share that the Units 1.05 Uneven-aged Silviculture and 1.09 Ecology and Silviculture of Mixed Forests hosted a very successful joint conference in Brno, Czech Republic in September 2023.

The European Journal of Forest Research has agreed to publish a "special section" for the meeting, titled "Uneven-aged silviculture: insights into forest adaptation in times of global change."
Given interest in this topic, the journal editors have decided to make this special section open to manuscript submissions from anyone interested and conducting research on the topic (the special section is not restricted to scientists who presented at the conference).

In-conference excursion:
- Transformation of even-aged forests to uneven-aged forests after 50 years (1973-2023) – the rate of change of tree species composition under climate change (presentation of 50 years data set and practice in the field).
- Beech silviculture – from even-aged stands to value increment silviculture. Is it the best way to compare production and the social order?

is developing session proposals for the XXVI IUFRO World Congress 2024 –

Please note that in two weeks – 16-18 November – we are holding an All-Division 1 online conference: SCALING‐UP FROM TREE‐ AND STAND‐LEVEL RESEARCH TO SUSTAINABLE SILVICULTURE AT FOREST‐ AND LANDSCAPE‐LEVEL. The conference is running for two hours each of the three days so it is easy for all to participate. Participation is free of charge.
We are keen to include presenters from our Research Groups and Working Parties. Please help recruit presenters for topics on tropical and subtropical silviculture, silviculture at landscape level, old-growth forest and forest regeneration, restoration, tending and stand density management. We particularly invite presentations of research ideas and ongoing research for discussion. Let’s hear what you working with!

I would like to encourage you to submit an abstract for presentation at the IUFRO World Congress in Curitiba, Brazil 29 Sep - 5 Oct 2019. Specifically, I have co-organized session #228 titled:"Managing for adaptation: increasing resistance, resilience, and transformative capacity" (w/ Khaled Misbahuzzaman and Christian Messier; see short abstract below). I like to think the topic is sufficiently broad that your work fits and would really like to have a strong representation of silviculture. If you are in doubt, whether your work qualifies, just send me an email and I can provide feedback.
The abstract submission deadline is December 31, 2019. Note, that you will have to register for the congress first (you will need your registration number for abstract submission), but will not have to pay until later in May. Short description
The session discusses how novel management approaches that emphasize ecosystem resistance, resilience, and transformative capacity can be beneficial in various ecological and social settings. During the meeting we convened a short meeting to consider options for the future leadership of the group and a note of this is attached. The purpose of this e-mail is to give members who could not attend the meeting an opportunity to express their views.
