Dear Colleagues,
We are welcoming applications to the Decision Support System Workshop
and ForestDSS Community of Practice that will take place in Lisbon,
Portugal, December 4-6 (please check http://www.2013forestdss.chil.org/)
This workshop will focus on the use of Decision Support Systems (DSS) in
forest management planning. It aims at disseminating DSS among
researchers, developers and users of computerized tools to support
forest management planning. It will include computer labs to demonstrate
the use of different DSSs as well as a poster session to provide an
opportunity of exchanges about research, development and use of other
forest management decision support tools. Through interactive
discussions and practical workshops the participants will be exposed to
the interdisciplinary nature of developing DSS for forest management.
The ForestDSS Community of Practice will have its first larger meeting
the 4th of December.
We invite you all to register. Yet please note that the logistics of the
computer labs constrains the number of participants to 180. We also
welcome proposals for poster presentations.
Contact information at 2013forestdss(a)gmail.com
Sorry for any crossposting. Please disseminate this information to
whomever you think might be interested.
Thanks,
Best regards,
Jose

Subject: Reminder - IUFRO 2014 - Call for Abstracts - Session: Implementation of silvicultural treatments and their effects into forest growth models
Dear all,
Please be aware that the deadline for the submission of abstracts regarding our session " Implementation of silvicultural treatments and their effects into forest growth models " at the IUFRO Congress 2014 is approaching quickly and I would like to remind you to submit your abstract (170-200 words) via the online submission system soon:
http://iufro2014.com/scientific-program/abstract-submissions/.
This session will explore how silvicultural treatments effects, such as those associated with thinning, regeneration, and fertilization, are incorporated into current forest growth models and how these may be improved to better support forest management decisions. A more detailed description of the Session is attached.
You are welcomed to forward the announcement to interested colleagues as well,
Best regards
Margarida
