PhD Opportunity!
The Forest and Landscape College, Department of Geoscience and Natural Resources, Faculty
of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD scholarship in Silviculture: “Key
factors controlling artificial regeneration of a range of desired forest tree species and
how to convey this science based information into cost effective regeneration methods and
systems” commencing 01.12.2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Description of the scientific environment
As part of IGN, the Forest and Landscape College is building a stronger scientific
platform to support the professional bachelor’s program of Forest and Landscape
Engineering at the campus “Skovskolen” in Nødebo, 40 km north of Copenhagen. We emphasize
applied research and development to strenghten the collaboration between practitioners and
scientists
•to foster applied forest research
•to develop the potentials of forests and forest management
•to provide the resources and services needed for more sustainable development of society
and for the benefit of future generations.
Job description
The position is available for a 3-year period and your key tasks as a PhD student at
SCIENCE are:
•To manage and carry through your research project
•Attend PhD courses
•Write scientific articles and your PhD thesis
•Teach and disseminate your research
•To stay at an external research institution for a few months, preferably abroad
•Work for the department.
