Subject: IUFRO Meliaceae Working Party e-list - new ITTO project on Cedrela odorata in Guyana
http://www.itto.int/project_search/detail/?proid=TMT-SPD014%2F13+Rev.1+%28M… is the project document on ‘Enhancing the sustainable management and commercial utilization of the CITES-listed species Cedrela odorata (red cedar) in Guyana’. Peter van der Hout, formerly of Stichting Tropenbos International at Wageningen, is the forest resource management specialist now managing this 18-month project at the Guyana Forestry Commission. Peter conducted his PhD and post-doctoral studies on reduced-impact logging in Guyana and has carried out several consultancies there and in adjacent Suriname for FAO, and for the GFA Consulting Group on independent forest monitoring in Guyana, so he is familiar with the problems of working in that country.
With best wishes
