W3 Professorship in Forest policy and land-use governance (f/m/d)
The professorship represents the field of forest policy in its entire breadth with a strong focus on land-use governance in research and teaching. Research should focus on the analysis of international and national forest and land use policies, their processes and strategies, and their mutual interdependencies. Ideally, the professorship thus contributes to the development of political solution strategies for the protection of forests and sustainable land use. The professorship is expected to establish close collaborations with other departments of the faculty and the university and to actively participate in existing research projects and the establishment of new ones. The professorship shall substantially strengthen the faculty foci on "Sustainable Forestry and Global Change" and "Utilization of Forests and Forest Products". Methodologically, the focus should be on empirical social science approaches. We are looking for a team player and dedicated person with demonstrated expertise in policy field analysis of international and national forestry, analysis of international land use-related governance systems and processes, trans-sectoral forest-related policy analysis of nature conservation, climate change mitigation, or regional development, and analysis of forest-related development cooperation.
The position entails the following teaching responsibilities: Subject-specific contributions in the bachelor and master programs of the faculty, especially in the master specializations "Forest Conservation", "Tropical and International Forestry" and "Forest Operation and Utilization". Due to the international profile of the professorship and the students, some of the courses are to be held in English and German. It is expected that the professorship will actively participate in the further internationalization of the courses offered. The university emphasizes research-oriented teaching.

Dear All
Building upon the popular 'Communicating Forest Science<https://www.iufro.org/science/special/spdc/training-resource-centre/communi…>' manual published almost a decade ago, the IUFRO Working Party on Communications and Public Relations has set to revisit this precious resource to make it aligned with the latest trends. The new manual aims at equipping scientists and science communicators with knowledge on communication theory and practice. Drawing upon the digital tools, the revamped manual will be exclusively available online thus giving possibilities to easily link to external resources, embed other digital materials like podcasts and videos and finally make it a living resource to be updated as needed.
The team is looking for additional volunteers to produce the revamped manual in time for the IUFRO Congress in Sep 2024. Ideally, candidates would come from within the IUFRO network or are experienced forest science communicators who know IUFRO. If you are interested, please contact me or any of the working party deputies. We particularly encourage applications from members from the Global South. IUFRO-SPDC will offer a full sponsorship for authors/contributors of the manual who are eligible for SAP for IUFRO Event Participation<https://www.iufro.org/science/special/spdc/sap/#c35938> to attend IUFRO 2024.
To receive further updates on this topic, we encourage you to subscribe to the IUFRO Working Party on Communications and Public Relations mailing list<https://www.iufro.org/science/divisions/division-9/90000/90100/90102/mailin…>.
