Subject: Third International Conference on New Frontiers of Forest
Economics, June 24-28, 2018
Dear All,
We are pleased to announce call for abstracts for our third International
Conference on New Frontiers of Forest Economics (neFFE): Governing our
Forests: The Evolving Political Economy of Multiple Values and Multiple
Stakeholders, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, June 24-28,
2018.
The key objectives of the conference are:
1.to bring together leading thinkers in forest economics from academia,
government, and organizations related to the forest sector to explore
thought-provoking perspectives on forest economics beyond the boundaries of
perfectly competitive commodity markets; and
2.to provide a unique forum to present and discuss cutting-edge thinking
papers that will enrich and provide future directions to the discipline of
forest economics.
The conference is being organized by the IUFRO Group 9.04.00 (Forest
Resource Economics) in collaboration with Faculty of Forestry, University of
British Columbia; Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto, and CYCAD Inc.
Please submit your abstract by September 20, 2017.
Details are available at: http://www.neffe.ch/
With warm regards
Shashi

Mark your calendars for the international conference on
Managing eucalypt plantations under global changes; Montpellier, France;
17-21 September 2018
Eucalypt plantations cover approximately 20 million hectares worldwide and
are expanding rapidly to provide the raw material for wood, paper, and
biofuel products as well as large amounts of firewood and charcoal for
domestic uses. Breeding programs and silvicultural practices must be
revisited to face the ongoing global changes.
As in previous IUFRO meetings (Bordeaux 1990, Hobart 1995, Salvador 1997,
Valdivia 2001, Aveiro 2004, Durban 2007, Porto Seguro 2011, Nanning 2015),
this conference will be a great opportunity for scientists and managers of
forest plantations to present the recent advances in silviculture and
genetics and to improve our understanding of the response of eucalypts to
biotic and abiotic stresses. The ecosystem services influenced by eucalypt
monocultures and mixed-species plantations with eucalypt trees will be
addressed.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Montpellier next year!
