A Reminder that Abstract Submissions are open for Acacia 2014 "Sustaining the Future
of Acacia Plantation Forestry" | March 18 - 21, 2014 | Hue - Viet Nam.
We welcome voluntary contributions addressing any of the following topics:
Genetics and breeding: Breeding of acacia species and hybrids; propagation and seed
production for operational deployment; provenance variation, adaptive limits and site
species matching ; improvement of wood properties; molecular genetics and genomics;
polyploid breeding.
Plantation Management for Sustainable Wood Production: Planting domains for key species
and anticipated impacts of climate change; the choice of acacia or other species;
sustainable site and stand management; role of nitrogen fixation; rotational use versus
intercropping; wood and fibre properties and suitability for end uses; acacias in
smallholder farming systems.
Risk Management including Pests and Diseases: Monitoring and managing pests and diseases
of acacias; impact of changing climates and ecology including invasiveness.
Abstract submission will remain open until the 1st of November.
Abstracts must be submitted following the prompts in the online electronic form.
Abstracts, papers and posters will be posted on the Conference website which will be
maintained for a minimum of 3 years. In addition Southern Forests: a Journal of Forest
Science has agreed to devote a special issue to key papers.
We would like to advise that The Conference Organising Committee are still actively
seeking sponsorship funds which can be used to sponsor participation by regional

after you have submitted your Abstract using the online process. Include the Title of
your Abstract in your email to us. We will consider the abstracts offered by intending
participants when deciding on how to distribute the available funds so we recommend early
submission. Please note that it is possible to send Abstracts now and followup with your
payment. We will notify you when the website is open for payments and hotel bookings.
Registration Fees are as follows:
Early-Bird Registration (before Dec 31, 2013) - USD$500
Late Registration (after Dec 31, 2013) - USD$550
Accompanying Person - USD$200
Registration fees includes: Abstracts Publication, Program Book, Conference Kit, Entry to
Opening Ceremony and all technical Sessions, Welcome Reception, Mid-conference Tour and
Conference Dinner.
