In the frame of the ProCoGen project (www.procogen.eu<http://www.procogen.eu/>) and together with FP7 FORGER project (www.fp7-forger.eu) we invite you for a workshop on “Genomics and conservation of genetic resources”, especially designed for scientists, early stage researchers and persons involved in the forestry based sector. The workshop will be held in Kámoni Arboretum Szombathely, Hungary from 1st – 3rd Sep. 2014. The workshop is free of charge, but the participants will be required to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses (€50 per night). Transport from and to the Vienna international airport can also be arranged for an additional charge of €80 (return fare). Attached you will find the workshop invitation and a preliminary programme. Registration Fees are as follows:
Early-Bird Registration (before Dec 31, 2013) - USD$500
Late Registration (after Dec 31, 2013) - USD$550
Accompanying Person - USD$200
Registration fees includes: Abstracts Publication, Program Book, Conference Kit, Entry to Opening Ceremony and all technical Sessions, Welcome Reception, Mid-conference Tour and Conference Dinner.
The optional Post- conference tour will fly participants from Hue to Hanoi, overnight in Hanoi with a free afternoon for city touring on Saturday March 22nd before departing for the Ba Vi field research station of the Vietnamese Academy of Forestry on the morning of Sunday 23rd.
The tour will inspect the research nursery and various acacia research trials demonstrating aspects of tree breeding, propagation and silviculture. After lunch, we will inspect local wood processing industries that use acacia wood, and overnight in a hotel near Ba Vi.
On Monday 24th there will be a visit to nearby Ba Vi Mountain and National park, for a presentation on natural forest ecology followed by a short walk along trails though the native forest. After lunch, the tour will return to Hanoi by 4 pm where the tour finishes.

The title of the Congress is "Sustaining Forests, Sustaining People: The Role of Research" and the seven scientific themes of the program are: Forests and People, Forests and Climate Change, Forest and Water Interactions, Forest Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, Forest Biomass and Bioenergy, Forest Products for a Greener Future, and Forest Health in a Changing World. Sessions will address these themes and more!
