SPECIAL SYMPOSIA ANNOUNCED!
Call for Abstracts Now Open
Deadline to Submit: Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11:59pm (EST)
The local Planning Committee for the IALE-North America 2020 Annual Meeting welcomes abstract submissions for oral and poster presentations. Proposals must be received by Monday, January 6, 2020 in order to be considered. Make plans now to join us May 10-14 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the Chestnut Residence and Conference Centre at the University of Toronto.
The scientific program will consist of three types of sessions:
  • Organized Symposia - a series of integrated presentations that address aspects of a single topic or theme, submitted as an organized group of speakers;
  • Contributed Oral Presentations - individual oral presentations that are grouped into sessions by conference organizers; and
  • Poster Presentations - 4'x4' printed poster showcased as part of the Poster Viewing & Reception.

We’re pleased to announce that twenty-two special symposia will be offered at the 2020 Meeting as part of the technical program. Oral presentation authors will have the option of submitting an abstract for these symposia, either as an invited speaker, or if you want your talk to be considered for a symposium marked as "Open." Read symposia overviews here

All abstracts including individual speakers within a symposium, general contributed oral, and posters must be submitted online by Monday, January 6, 2020. Click the button below to get started.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent and the schedule will be posted by mid-February 2020. Presenting Authors will only be accepted for ONE presentation - either oral or poster. There are no limits on being a co-author on an abstract.
Remote Participation
In recognition of the environmental impact of the travel involved in bringing together hundreds of Landscape Ecologists to our annual conference, IALE-North America is exploring options for remote presentation and remote access to presentation content. We hope to use the 2020 conference as a test bed for new ideas in remote delivery, while recognizing there may be unforeseen issues. This is likely to be a several years long experiment.

At this time, we plan to offer and test the following remote-delivery options at the 2020 conference to be held in Toronto:
  • Plenary talks webcast live and recorded for later viewing online
  • One session of remote presenters offered in one room for a specific time period
  • Voluntary submission of Powerpoint presentations (PDF format, optionally with voice-over narration) so that they can be made accessible to those who have paid to participate in the conference, including remote presenters

Please note that remote presenters will pay the normal registration fee due to the fixed costs involved in providing the annual conference, as well as additional effort and cost involved in setting up the remote option.

The 2020 conference online abstract submission form offers checkboxes to indicate interest in participating as a remote presenter and/or willingness to share Powerpoint presentations.

Sincerely,
Janet Silbernagel, IALE-North America President
