In
recognition of
the
environmental
impact of the
travel
involved in
bringing
together
hundreds of
Landscape
Ecologists to
our annual
conference,
IALE-North
America is
exploring
options for
remote
presentation
and remote
access to
presentation
content. We
hope to use
the 2020
conference as
a test bed for
new ideas in
remote
delivery,
while
recognizing
there may be
unforeseen
issues. This
is likely to
be a several
years long
experiment.
At this
time, we plan
to offer and
test the
following
remote-delivery
options at the
2020
conference to
be held in
Toronto:
- Plenary
talks webcast
live and
recorded for
later viewing
online
- One
session of
remote
presenters
offered in one
room for a
specific time
period
- Voluntary
submission of
Powerpoint
presentations
(PDF format,
optionally
with
voice-over
narration) so
that they can
be made
accessible to
those who have
paid to
participate in
the
conference,
including
remote
presenters
Please
note that
remote
presenters
will pay the
normal
registration
fee due to the
fixed costs
involved in
providing the
annual
conference, as
well as
additional
effort and
cost involved
in setting up
the remote
option.
The 2020
conference
online
abstract
submission
form offers
checkboxes to
indicate
interest in
participating
as a remote
presenter
and/or
willingness to
share
Powerpoint
presentations.
Sincerely,
Janet
Silbernagel,
IALE-North
America
President
