Dear IUFRO members:

IUFRO approved our proposed Task Force on Legacy Forest Data and Related Resources (T57 https://www.iufro.org/task-forces/t57-legacy-forest-data-and-related-resources) The purpose of this Task Force is to contribute to the rescue, curation, and use of Legacy Forest Information Resources. These resources are older data and other sources that are useful for forest restoration and many other purposes. But they are in danger of being lost due to existing only on paper or older digital formats.

We are also forming a Consortium on Legacy Forest Information Resources linked to the Task Force, so all can participate who are interested in legacy forest information resources. There was more interest than we could accommodate in the Task Force group. If you would like to participate in the Consortium, please fill out the Google Form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1AbTK29G4rpDXdRgBF5nXDP49aWUsIxdDplIwC5oDmZz2cA/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=116938643400553223925, and we will invite you to join and contribute to the online discussion “spaces” (using Google Chat) on various topics.
