Thank you, Oliver, for organizing. In California that would be 4 am. Any chance it can
start 1 hour later? If not, I understand. I don’t want to exclude our Asian colleagues
Best wishes, Victoria

Dear members of the IUFRO Evolution and adaptation of Fagaceae and
Nothofagaceaegroup,
welcome to the "Evolution and Adaptation of Fagaceae and Nothofagaceae"
mailing list.
As announced before, we would like to propose a 2 hours online meeting in June.
To cover the large geographic range of the group, the best times seem to
be 13:00 to 15:00 Paris time, which corresponds to 6:00 to 8:00 in the
US west coast (Illinois) and 20:00 to 22:00 in Japan. To allow full
discussion during such a short meeting, we propose that a select few
pre-recorded talks be made available via Youtube or Slack for viewing at
your convenience beforehand. The meeting will then mainly consist of
discussion of the talks.
Please respond rapidly to this Doodle so that a date can be fixed :

We propose the following scedule, assuming that everybody has watched
the pre-recorded talks before the meeting :
15 minutes of introductions and free exchange
75 minutes discussion of 5 presentations :
* 3 minutes flash presentation of the talk
* 12 minutes discussion
30 minutes of discussion about networking and improving activities, with
a focus on the Oaxaca and Taiwan meetings
total = 2 hours
We will use an internet space (yet to me defined, Slack or Mattermost),
to also pre-record questions, and use as an online forum to continue
discussions after the meeting.
We have already had several proposals for talks and we will be contacting
these members shortly for for details. We will have probably to make a choice.
But if any more members would like to propose talks (this means recording
them at least a week before the meeting date), send me an email
(oliver.brendel(a)inrae.fr)
If this meeting format is successful, we could propose it more regularly
and thereby increase the general activity of the working group and allow more people to
present their results.
best regards
