Dear colleagues,
it has been a while since the last visual group meeting in last summer.
I’m sure that you have many exciting new results to share.
To be able to organize a *spring webinaire of our IUFRO group*on
Evolution and Adaptation of Fagaceae and Nothofagaceae, at the beginning
of May, *we are looking for a date*that suits most members of the group.
Due to the many bank holidays in May, this choice will be limited to
dates between the 9^th and the 17^th of May.
We propose to do a similar meeting with pre-recorded 20min talks so that
participants can watch the talks before the actual meeting and then
during the meeting, a short 5 min introduction to the talk, before time
for questions and discussion.
We welcome very much presentations of recent publications, by PhD
students, Post-docs or senior scientists.
Especially, if you have any PhD students in your lab with a topic close
to our group, please motivate him or her to either record a 20min talk,
or to do a live 3-5 minutes talk about one experiment of their PhD.
Also, please contact me directly if you have new scientists in your
group to add to the mailing list.
In the following date survey you can pick your favourite dates as well
as indicate if you would like to introduce a pre-recorded 20min talk or
do a 3-5min presentation. If possible, also leave a comment with a
preliminary title of your talk (or just some keywords about the species
concerned, and your scientific discipline).

*Please respond to this survey by the 2**1**. February. *
As for the timing, we propose again a 2 hours meeting, and we will
switch back to the timing of the first meeting :
12:00-14:00 GMT/UTC, so early in the day for Americans (5-7 San
Francisco, 7-9 Chicago, 9-11 Argentina), early afternoon for people in
Europe (14-16 Paris CEST) and late in the day for scientists in Asia
(Tokyo 21-23)
You will be able to watch the 20min talks one week before the meeting on
Youtube, which also means that the recorded talks should be available
one week before the chosen meeting date.
We hope to see you all there, virtually
best regards
Oliver Brendel, Chuck Cannon & Keiko Kitamura

Dear colleagues,
the 9th of May seems to be coming out as the favourite day for the
meeting, followed by the 12th and the 16th.
We still have space for talks, so please do not hesitate to propose, and
also ask your PhD students or Post Docs to present their latest work.
It would be good to define the final date by the end of the week.

Dear colleagues,
there is still space for talks. Any talks about Fagaceae and
Nothofagaceae genetics or ecophysiology are appreciated, not only
established results, also new projects or PhDs. This is an opportunity
for PhD students and Post docs to get themselves known to the community.
I have re-opened the evento :
