12) Proceed to complete the rest of the abstract.

If you submit, please notify me at mahoganyforthefuture@gmail.com of submission of abstract, I will inform the meeting organizers that the abstract should be included in the post facto Meliaceae session. We need a minimum of 6 abstracts for the session to occur. The organizers are very kind in allowing this option for a Meliaceae session, since I did not submit a proposal for the session in time (deadline was last June).

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Sheila

Dear Sheila,

It is not clear to me what session you would like us to contribute an abstract to. There is currently no session for the Meliaceae. Are you suggesting we develop an abstract and write in a session called “Research advances for  the Meliaceae”? Please advise how you foresee our being able to to develop one.

Warm regards,

Laura

Dear Meliaceae Researcher:

The IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress will be held in Freiburg, Germany, September 19-22, 2017. The deadline for session proposals was June 30, 2016, and I missed that (!). But we still have an opportunity to organize a session on Research Advances for the Meliaceae if sufficient abstracts are submitted for such a session. So if you are interested in participating in a session for the Meliaceae Working Party 1.04.02, (http://www.iufro.org/science/divisions/division-1/10000/10200/10204/) (http://www.iufro.org/), please submit an abstract by November 30, 2016, at http://iufro2017.com/call-for-abstracts/ .

For the abstract to be considered for a Meliaceae session, please submit under Theme 3: Forests and Forest-Based Products for a Greener Future, and then 42 - Open Session. Please send an email to mahoganyforthefuture@gmail.com, when you have submitted an abstract for the Meliaceae session, so that I can inform the meeting organizers that the abstract should be included in the Meliaceae session. Instructions for abstract submission are attached, as well as instructions for applying for assistance to attend the meeting, if you qualify.

The IUFRO Meliaceae Working Party is a forum for the exchange of information for all interested parties on sustainable management and genetic resources for timber species of the Meliaceae. For the Meliaceae session, it would be good to cover a range of advances in Meliaceae management in natural forests and plantations, ecology, genetics, insects and their control, and uses of Meliaceae species in different contexts such as afforestation and watershed protection, among other topics.

Hope to see you in Freiburg!

Sheila Ward

Coordinator, IUFRO Working Party 1.04.02
