Under
the Institutional Policy
for the Recruitment of New Professorial Resources, UQAM

looking for the most qualified human resources to assure
quality development in
all areas and the renewal of its professorial staff.
Applications
are invited for a
tenure track faculty position in the Department of Biological
Sciences, UQAM
(http://www.bio.uqam.ca), in the area of forest ecosystem
productivity. Candidates
must have research expertise in tree or stand productivity,
soil-tree
interactions, the genetic improvement and molecular biology of
tree growth,
ecophysiology, or modelling at the tree, stand, or landscape
scale. The
successful candidate must be able to develop an independent
research program in
the area while bringing expertise to the department, and must
apply for a
Canada Research Chair (level 2:
http://www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/) in April
2012.
We are
looking for a motivated
person with postdoctoral experience and a Ph.D. obtained less
than 10 years
ago. The successful candidate must have an excellent publication
record in the
above areas; their research must demonstrate a tangible link to
forest
ecosystem productivity. The successful candidate will join one
of the most
important forest ecology research groups in Canada (CFR – UQAM:
http://www.cef-cfr.ca/)
in a very
dynamic department, which includes a diversity of research
groups in forest
ecology, aquatics, evolution, and behaviour. He or she will be
encouraged to
interact actively with the members of the CFR, but also with the
other ecology
groups at UQAM.
The successful candidate will be
expected to teach
undergraduate courses using the innovative problem-based
learning approach of
the department. He or she will teach in some of the following
areas: general
ecology, forest ecology, ecosystem ecology, modelling, and
statistics. All
courses are taught in French. Non-francophone professors will be
offered a
training period, but must master written and spoken French to
quality for
tenure. The successful candidate will also be expected to
participate in the
university community and to train graduate students.

earliest
