Two graduate research assistantships in forest entomology are available beginning in the fall 2009 or winter 2010.  Students will work under the supervision of Dr. Jeremy D. Allison in the Department of Entomology, LSU AgCenter.  One of the available positions will involve research focused on the impact of native competitors and natural enemies on the population dynamics of the invasive woodwasp Sirex noctilio (Hymenoptera: Siricidae).  This project will involve field work in Southern Ontario in collaboration with the Canadian Forest Service.  The other position will focus on the development and optimization of trap designs for the detection and monitoring of invasive Cerambycidae.  Questions concerning the research projects or facilities should be directed to Dr. Jeremy D. Allison (jallison@agcenter.lsu.edu).  For information on how to apply contact Dr. Timothy Schowalter (tschowalter@agcenter.lsu.edu).  For information on the Department of Entomology and LSU, visit www.entomology.lsu.edu.
