Pests of plants pose a major threat to the world's plant resources. The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) aims to sustain agriculture, enhance global food security, and facilitate trade through the prevention of pest introduction and spread.

The IPPC Capacity Development Committee, with financial support from the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF), launched this photo contest to draw attention to the importance of plant pests.

Photographers from all over the world have contributed more than 100 pictures of pests, of the impacts of pests and of management measures (http://www.phytosanitary.info/photo-contest). A panel selected the 30 shortlisted pictures.

An expert jury formed by members of the IPPC Secretariat, FAO and National Geographic Society selected the 3 finalist pictures. These 3 pictures are posted on the IPPC Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1055317844481620.1073741829.113230338690380&type=1, and now is your chance to vote on the winning image!

Deadline for the online voting is 19 March 2015 at 6pm.

The winners will be announced during the IPPC Commission on Phytosanitary Measures to be held on 16 th-20th of March 2015.
