Hi,

We have a PhD opportunity available: 'Foliar pathogens of pine: are there common triggers for resistance?’. We’d be grateful if you can bring this opportunity to the attention of any good students you know of who are looking for a PhD position.

The project involves a collaboration between Massey University and Scion. It will include bioinformatic analyses to find common invasion patterns in three foliar pine pathogens (2 fungal and 1 oomycete), screening for avirulence and virulence functions using both Nicotiana spp. and pine (using a screening system developed in our lab as part of a previous Massey-Scion collaborative project) and identification of potential plant immune receptors. The ultimate aim is to identify broad spectrum resistance in pine.
