as a warm-up to next year’s 2024 IUFRO Congress, I’d like to launch a sort of « contest » (but nothing to win, alas!) to collect ideas we could share / debate as a side event at the congress (format to be decided) and / or become the backbone of a position / opinion paper.

The concept is the following: I’d like to know what would be, in your opinion, the most exciting research topic(s) for forest genetics in what remains of the XXI Century.

What are the breakthroughs we need to make forest genetics really progress?

What are the unanswered questions that still haunt / motivate us?

What methods, technologies, concepts would we need to incorporate in our research field to answer such questions?

What other questions, besides those listed above, should be answered?

Please drop your ideas in this Google Drive Folder until 8 August 2023 (in six months), in any format (a text, a figure, a diagram, a poem, a song, a video, a mathematical function, …) (don’t forget to add your coordinates to your files, so that we know who has proposed what). It can be very short, but also very long. It can have plenty of references, or not at all.

If you wish, contribute to other people’s ideas as well.

We’ll see what’s in our treasure chest in six months from now, and then I’ll propose a way to wrap it all up.
