Dear IUFRO 1.05 Uneven-aged Silviculture Research Group Members:
This is another update with information for our Uneven-aged Silviculture
Research Group. As before, my goal is to send out a similar update
several times each year. Please forward this email to interested persons
who might not be on this mailing list and encourage them to join the list
server as indicated below.
Recent Meetings:
Our recent meeting in Shizuoka was a huge success.
Congratulations to Hiromi Mizunaga and the Executive and Science
Committees on a very well-organized meeting. There were over 100
participants and these included representatives from 20 countries.
In the ten conference sessions, there were 99 presentations and five
keynote presentations. The conference also included very successful
pre- and post-conference tours The meeting also was successful in
expanding our Research Group's inclusion of scientists working on
tropical forests and from developing countries. Once again,
everyone involved in the organization of this conference deserves a lot
of credit for their hard work and the success of the meeting.
A selection of papers from the conference will be reviewed for
publication in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Forest Research in
late 2009.
IUFRO CONGRESS
22-28 August 2010, XXIII IUFRO World Congress, Seoul, Republic of
Korea, "Forests for the Future: Sustaining Society
and the Environment" . IUFRO is accepting proposals for
session topics/speakers through 15 January 2009. Please contact me
if you have ideas for sessions that you would like the Research Group to
pursue.
Future Meetings
We would like to hold our next meeting in 2010 but are looking for
possible locations and hosts. If you would like to host our next
meeting or make a suggestion on a possible future site, please contact
me. It is not too early to begin planning for a 2010 meeting. Note
that the IUFRO Congress will be in August 2010 so we should not conflict
with those dates. All suggestions are welcome!
