Next t year the World Forestry Congress will be held in Durban. Now the call for events is open and I agree with Alexander that we should show the competence of IUFRO in the congress not least by submitting ideas for events. When submitting event proposals for your working party/research group to the world forestry congress please don’t forget to put the label IUFRO on (and when accepted please communicate it on the IUFRO website as well).

Dear Daniela,

As you aware I attended the CPF Working Group Meeting at FAO in Rome last week. On this occasion I also had a chance to meet Ewald Rametsteiner. As you are aware, Ewald and I used be colleagues at the Forest Europe Liaison Unit in Vienna and at BOKU.

Ewald has been appointed to serve as the focal person within FAO for developing the programme for the sixth sub-theme “Improving Governance by Building Capacity” of the World Forestry Congress. In this context, he has told me that he encourages submissions by IUFRO. In my view, several of the bullet points under theme 6 would fit very well for inputs by IUFRO. Therefore, I would be most grateful if you could reach out to relevant Research Group and Working Party Coordinators and discuss with them potential IUFRO events. It would be important that related contributions are clearly ‘labelled’ as IUFRO events.

XIV World Forestry Congress

Call for events now open

The XIV World Forestry Congress will be a key occasion for the world’s foresters and forest supporters to gather, to share their expertise and experience, and to project a new vision for the future of forests and forestry. We’d like you to help define that vision.

We invite you to submit your application for organizing an event under the central theme of the Congress, Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future, and on relevant topics that also align with any of the six Congress sub-themes that can be found here.

We welcome proposals for side events, networking events, launches, performances or regional events to share experiences and innovations and increase opportunities for dialogue among participants.

Please make sure you submit your event application before the deadline for submission, 27 February 2015, using the online event registration system.

El XIV Congreso Forestal Mundial será una ocasión fundamental para que personas de todos los países, regiones y sectores se reúnan, compartan conocimientos y experiencias y proyecten una nueva visión sobre el futuro de los bosques y las actividades forestales. Nos gustaría su ayuda para definir esa visión.

Invitamos a la presentación de su postulación para organizar un evento bajo el tema central del CFM, "Los Bosques y la Gente: Invirtiendo en un Futuro Sostenible", y en tópicos relevantes relacionados con cualquiera de los seis subtemas del Congreso que pueden ser encontrados aquí:

Damos la bienvenida a postulaciones de eventos colaterales, eventos de red de contactos, lanzamientos, actuaciones o eventos regionales para compartir experiencias e innovaciones, así como aumentar las oportunidades de diálogo entre los participantes del Congreso.

Por favor, asegúrese de presentar su postulación de evento antes de la fecha límite, 27 de febrero de 2015, en el sistema de registro en línea de eventos.

Pour les forestiers et partisans des forêts du monde entier, le XIVe Congrès forestier mondial sera une occasion essentielle de se réunir, partager leur expertise et leurs expériences, et projeter une nouvelle vision pour l’avenir des forêts et de la foresterie. Nous aimerions dessiner cette vision avec vous.

Nous vous invitons à soumettre vos propositions d’évènements  sur le thème central du XIV^e Congrès forestier mondial, « Les forêts et les populations : investir dans un avenir durable », et sur les sujets pertinents en rapport avec l’un des six sous-thèmes du Congrès qui sont disponibles ici.

Dans le but de partager les expériences et les innovations ainsi qu’accroitre les possibilités de dialogue entre les participants, nous acceptons les propositions d’événements parallèles, d’activité de réseautage, de lancements, de manifestation-spectacles ou des événements régionaux.

Veuillez proposer vos événements parallèles avant la date limite fixée au 27 février 2015, à  travers le système d’enregistrement en ligne pour les événements.
